The Headwaters Eco Lodge in Glenorchy is nature's little secret. Nestled in between two soaring mountain ranges at the head of Lake Whakatipu, a beautiful 45 minute scenic drive from Queenstown. It provides the perfect place for your next company executive retreat or board meeting; a place to nourish, open up your mind and to escape the distractions.

We offer boutique lodge accommodation that is ideal for small groups - with 14 private chalets and a separate 3 bedroom house. The Lodge also hosts an onsite restaurant with a team of talented chefs that work with the freshest seasonal produce from our kitchen garden and state-of-the-art greenhouse.

Our sustainability is thought provoking and without sacrifice. The Lodge has an annual net positive status, generating its own energy onsite via one of the South Island’s largest solar gardens, also using 50% less water than similar facilities.
The Headwaters Eco Lodge is New Zealand and the world’s first visitor accommodation to be designed, built and operating based on regenerative design principles to Living Building Challenge (LBC) standards, recognised globally as the most stringent design principles for creating a healthy future where our planet and humanity are thriving. 

Featuring upcycled building materials from local woolsheds and buildings impacted by the 2011 Christchurch Earthquake. Local rock from the Dart and Rees rivers has been used to create the Braided River stone mosaic flooring in the Homestead building. 

The Lodge is a place that gives back, where all profits flow directly to the Glenorchy Community Trust.
